Because they close after Labor Day, last Friday I walked over to the community pool near my house to get one more use out of my new goggles.
It was around 11:00 am, well after the 9:00 open time, but it was all locked up, and employees were milling around inside the gates. I cornered a employee standing outside and asked what the deal was, and she proceeded to tell me, "We're closed because an employee was slain here last night. We'll be open for the second session".
Hmm.
2 things:
1. I've been to that pool a bunch of times, and not once felt that I was in any danger of slaying.
2. Slain? Was the guy killed in a fencing dual?
In any case, the question of whether I will return to the murder pool is a moot point, as it's closed until next summer.
I'm planning on hitting up Jones Beach in Long Island as part of my extended farewell to summer.
What are your end of summer/start of fall plans (please say school supply shopping).

p.s. This is not me, you can tell because my goggles are clear.
