This last weekend James (spooky ghost) and I packed up our cabana-wear and hit the Cape. We found ourselves in Provincetown, and without a whale watch tour leaving anytime soon, wandered over to the Provinetown film festival, specifically to the 11:30 showing of The Wackness.
It was great, with a capitol GRRRRRR. It's set in New York City in 1994, which is an awesome time period to set anything in. The story is really sweet and really authentic, and the actor who plays the Luke, Josh Peck, is first rate (and not a young Sylvester Stallone, as the old women next to me said as the movie ended), and super cute, and my new crush.

Ben Kingsly is in this, and he's uber-funny. He makes out with Mary-Kate Olsen, which is more disturbing than anything else, but that was the only moment that was real high on the creep-o-meter.
We saw it in a festival, so I have no idea what the rating is, though I could probably take an educated guess. Let's just say you might not want to invite your mom. Unless you enjoy being really, really uncomfortable (though only briefly).
I'm not sure when or if it will be released, but I'd recommend keeping your eyes open. And if it doesn't get a big release in the U.S., put those Netflix accounts to work.
Seriously, it's gang-busters good, and I've been thinking about it for days. See it see it see it.
