Idol Semi-Final Group 1

Oh Tatiana Of the Bull you may think we can’t see through your attempt to show us you’re not a self-centered, attention-starved maniac, but just as sure as you’ve got flappy lunch-lady arms and a dusty yellow smile we all know enough to expect an outburst from you when it’s someone else sitting on the fuzzy blue safe couch and not you. And, while I seriously contemplate sending you some Crest White Strips, I have to wonder at an episode of Idol where you are a highlight.

I’m impressed. You’ve convinced me that crazy has merit. I think I’ve known that all along, but I’ve never actually seen it in action. I mean, it’s much easier for me to sit at home as a viewer and criticize everyone for their mistakes, but I know what it’s like to be standing there in your shoes. It’s really easy to lose your way with all the lights and general hubbub surrounding the show. Most normal people freak out, but not you. You and fame are like Smeagol and the Ring, except in this case it’s a brand new ultra shiny microphone. Please call it your precious! For me? Just once? Please?

Ok, enough of her. Among other people worth mentioning is Jackie Tohn who sang “little less conversation”. Not because I loved her performance—I mean I didn’t hate it like Simon, but singing that song was one of the highlights of my Idol Journey and watching her perform it tonight brought back a few memories. I don’t think she was terrible, but of course I’m partial to the way I did it. Plus, I’m glad it was her wearing the spandex and not me.

The easy Favorite for tonight was Danny Gokey. He’s gonna be in the competition for a long while. My prediction is him, Oil-field guy and pink hair single mom.
